Fat Freezing Treatment

Two technologies are combined in the Proshock Ice device to create a patented technology called Ice-Shock-Lipolysis™ for fat reduction and cellulite improvement.

Ice-Shock-Lipolysis uses controlled and precise cooling with ICE-Lipolysis™ or cryolipolysis to disrupt and destroy excess fat cells without affecting the surrounding tissues. And SHOCK-Therapy™ using sound, pressure, or acoustic waves as a mechanical action to boost blood circulation, improve elasticity, and stimulate metabolic processes, helping to tighten tissue in the treated area and improve the overall appearance of cellulite.

Fat cells or adipocytes are destroyed via a mechanism called apoptosis which is a process of programmed cell death due to the fat cells freezing during treatment. The damaged adipocytes will breakdown over time and the debris metabolised and eliminated safely by your body.

Proshock Ice is used to treat areas of small, localised, excess body fat that is resistant to diet and exercise, in both men and women, and for the improvement in the appearance of cellulite, as well as general body contouring and reshaping. It is not a weight loss treatment.

A programme of Proshock Ice treatments will be recommended for you, depending on the need to treat excess fat and/or cellulite. Measurements (circumference) of the fatty areas and photographs will be taken so we can track the improvements in your body reshaping.

To treat excess fat, we begin with the ICE-Lipolysis, so that the low temperatures trigger the destruction of the fat cells. This is then followed by the SHOCK-Therapy treatment.

For cellulite treatment, the ICE-Lipolysis and SHOCK-Therapy are alternated over a 30-minute treatment session, with the freezing probe of the ICE-Lipolysis not reaching such cold temperatures as used when treating excess fat alone.

We usually recommended a course of 4-6 treatments, 30-60 minutes long, carried out on average 10 days apart (minimum 1 week and maximum 2 weeks apart).

Ice-Shock-Lipolysis is an alternative treatment option for those who are not suitable for liposuction or who do not want to opt for a surgical solution for small deposits of fat that are proving difficult to shift with diet and exercise.

It is suitable for both men and women, however we will always undertake a full consultation and take a medical history to rule out any underlying health conditions that may affect your suitability for cryolipolysis or acoustic wave therapies.

If you are pregnant or breast feeding, you will not be suitable for treatment and will be advised to wait.

The treatment with Ice-Shock-Lipolysis is minimally invasive, painless, and does not require any anaesthesia. The act of the application of the cold ICE-Lipolysis treatment acts to numb the area being treated.

Potential sides effects are minimal due to the non-invasive nature of the treatment and there should be no real downtime afterwards; you can return to your normal day-to-day activities after each treatment. Although, you should expect some redness in the area treated for several hours following treatment.

A decrease in the circumference of fat deposits and an improvement in the appearance of cellulite will start to become visible a week or two after the first treatment, improving in the coming weeks with optimum results achieved after the recommended course of 4-6 treatments.

Results for the destruction of small fat deposits are permanent, and fat will not return to the same area. Long term results are dependent on lifestyle, including following a healthy diet with exercise to avoid overall weight gain in the body.
